Warcraft 3: Reforged Release Date Is Drawing Near
Following the delayed release of the much-anticipated Warcraft 3: Reforged, Blizzard Entertainment has finally announced the development of the game is coming to an end. In less than a week, you’ll be able to enjoy the remastered version of Warcraft 3 regardless of where you live. Let’s take a closer look at what awesome changes and improvements await gamers in Warcraft 3: Reforged.
What’s New In Warcraft 3: Reforged?
Gameplay
Blizzard Entertainment seemed to take everyone by surprise when they announced the remake of the 2002 classic Warcraft 3 at BlizzCon 2018. Still, this decision makes a lot of sense, given how beloved the game was (and still is) among fans of the genre. Blizzard has later gone on to explain that the main aim of the remake was to update the game’s visuals to modern-day standards. This means that you shouldn’t expect any significant gameplay changes, as the Blizzard team working on the Reforged edition is dedicated to preserving the original experience as much as possible.
Visuals and Sound Effects
What you should expect are the newly rendered character models and environments, as well as an improved UI. Fans who chose to splurge on a Warcraft 3: Reforged pre-order have already had an opportunity to experience the 4K-ready goodness, and so far, the new visuals have mostly received positive feedback. However, there was quite a lot of backlash towards Blizzard’s attempts to replace the voice acting and audio effects from the old version of the game with new tracks. The developers eventually decided not to go through with that, so you probably won’t be able to hear any major differences between the original and Reforged versions.
Warcraft 3: Reforged Night Elf character models are probably one of the most impressive remakes, but that doesn’t mean other races don’t look just as good in the new game. If you find yourself overwhelmed by all the changes in visuals, you can use a special menu to toggle the specific ones you’d like to see and turn off the rest.
Mods and Multiplayer
Since Warcraft 3: Reforged is trying to stay as true to the original game as possible, you’ll be able to experience all multiplayer content together with players who chose to keep playing the original game. Warcraft 3 may no longer be available for purchase through Battle.net, but the Warcraft 3: Reforged pre-order includes a copy of the original edition. This means you can still get your hands on the old game and get a chance to experience all the Reforged goodness early. Even the older mods are still supported in the Reforged edition, despite the added support for Lua, a powerful modern language.
So When Does Warcraft 3: Reforged Come Out?
The new (and hopefully final) release date for Warcraft 3: Reforged is January 28, 2020. The game is expected to go live on all servers at exactly 3 p.m. PST for players in all time zones, so it may drop late in the evening or even in the early morning of the following day. You can use an online time zone reference to quickly find out when you’re going to be able to play Warcraft 3: Reforged.
