The largest gaming event E3 2017 is almost over. Ubisoft, Sony, Microsoft, Bethesda, Electronic Arts and many other big guns have presented dozens of new exciting games that will entertain us all the next year. In short, we got new hardware from Nintendo Switch and Microsoft’s Project Scorpio has been fully unveiled but let’s talk about the Sony’s E3 2017 presentation and their tricks for this year.

Unfortunately, this time we didn’t see lots of surprises from Sony as well as any specific release dates. However, they keep doing things that they do best: excite us with breathtaking trailers of the games that are coming shortly and beyond. Let's take a closer look.

A slogan of this Sony’s E3 2017 presentation is games, games and, one more time, games. There was little talking in the press event at all and a lot of endless streaming of trailers and announcements that were changing with the rapid-fire speed. Even though it wasn’t easy to keep the concentration on constantly switching videos, the atmosphere and the tension of craving to see new releases stayed in the hall almost till the end.

How it was

Everything starts with the ethnic instrumental music playing by the orchestra and a beautiful animation with patterned sand paintings on the background. After a short lyrical introduction, the light turns off, and the screen glows. Here is the fun begins.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

A new trailer for the upcoming adventure from Naughty Dog was released at this Sony’s E3 2017 presentation. Unexpectedly, The Lost Legacy gets an entirely different gameplay and Nathan Drake isn’t the main hero anymore. This time you meet a hunter Chloe Frazer and a mercenary Nadine Ross who are looking for the stolen Holy Tusk of Ganesh which is apparently an ancient treasure or a highly valuable relic. Not less surprisingly is that the game will be launched for PS4 shortly - on August 22. Fans of antiquity can already foretaste this release.

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds

The Guerrilla Games studio has also introduced the first trailer of the upcoming sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn during this press conference. Judging from the preview, this time Eloy travels to the north where the tribes of Banok hunters dwell. She will have to fight again for the secrets that are hidden somewhere in the snow-capped mountains. So dress warmly and be ready to wade through snowy obstacles.

Days Gone

Sony Interactive Entertainment Band showed a 7-minute long gameplay part of post-apocalyptic open-world zombie survival game - Days Gone. This game was already introduced at the previous E3 conference as an exclusive game for PS4 with a different name “Dead Do not Ride.” This time the new trailer looked more polished but didn’t reveal the gameplay. So all we have to do is guessing and waiting for the release date which is still unknown.

Monster Hunter

The CAPCOM company has announced the release a sequel to the popular franchise - Monster Hunter World. You will run through the realistic living ecosystems, climb rocks, fight huge dinosaurs, dragons and try out a new online drop-in multiplayer system. The Monster Hunter is expected to come out in early 2018 for Xbox One as well as for PC at a later date.

Shadow Of The Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus is a widely loved classic game that was primarily designed back in the days for the PlayStation 2. It got high popularity for a short period and for this reason was released as an updated version later in 2011. However, Bluepoint has decided to make a full-on HD remake for PS4 this time with all the renewed graphical tricks and twists, modern technologies and lots of unseen features. But the release date is set somewhere in 2018.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Another trailer from CAPCOM was dedicated to the upcoming fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. The game has several new characters like Thanos, Gamora, Nova and Black Panther, Dante from Devil May Cry as well as Zero from Mega Man X. Based on the storyline, Gamora asks the main character Thanos for help to find mysterious infinite gems and defeat frightening Ultron Sigma. CAPCOM has already confirmed the launch date of the game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and it’s September 19. So prepare to save the planet from the enemies because they will attack soon.

Call of Duty: World War II

A trailer for Call of Duty: WWII developed by Sledgehammer Games was also released during the presentation. It didn’t show us a lot of details, but the game’s new multiplayer mode was highlighted and got all of the attention. The game’s trailer was so much polished that it actually looked like a scene from the real movie. Therefore it feels like even new to this entry will likely find this Call of Duty part breathtaking, even though it is going back in time compared to the sci-fi part - Infinite Warfare. Call of Duty: WWII is going to be released for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One on November 3rd, 2017.

God Of War

The 5-minute trailer for a sequel to God of War was also previewed at 2017's E3 conference. From the video fragments, we get that everything happens in Scandinavia and that Kratos’ son, Atreus, also participates in combats and not just gathers around. Some of the game’s mechanics changed, but the gameplay seems to be the same. Even despite the age, Kratos still easily destroys enemies using just an ax and shield and needs to fight to survive and teach the son everything that he knows.

One of the brightest moments of the trailer is a huge hecking snake called the World's Serpent that appears in the end. Kratos tries to have a dialogue with this creature, but it looks like only the boy understands its language. Moreover, this terrifying monster turns out to be friendly. The trailer didn’t answer all of the questions and created, even more, new ones, so we got excited and are looking forward to the release next year.

Detroit

Sony has finally announced more details for an upcoming exclusive game for PS4 developed by Quantic Dream - Detroit: Become Human. The trailer showed the gameplay for the first time, so we know that the main characters are robots who question their reality and for this reason start protests. Sounds quite intriguing, right? But the video didn’t even give a hint what the game's final is. Moreover, the release date hasn’t ever been announced. So we can assume that Detroit is unlikely to get launched earlier than fall 2018.

Spider-Man

Sony closed out the conference with the sweetest and the most expected game - Spider-Man from Insomniac. This game’s trailer is impressively striking. You might feel like you’re watching the action-packed animated movie about Spider-Man. Well, it’s still a bit confusing how all of these crazy acrobatic movements and attacks will work in the game, but it’s enjoyable even just looking at them. The game is expected to be an open-world exclusive for PS4, and its release is set in 2018.

How about VR?

Of course, not. A lot of PSVR games were also introduced at Sony’s E3 2017 presentation: a new military shooter Bravo Team, a colorful cosmic game called Star Child, a game called Moss where you’re in control of a tiny mouse, a psychological thriller The Inpatient, a marine-themed game called Monster Of The Deep and a well-known immortal Skyrim.

Is that all?

Well, we didn’t see such games as Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Last of Us 2 which can upset some of the PS4 fans. But Sony showed us a lot of exclusive products for their platform this time, and everything looked pretty delicious.

What’s next?

We can expect to see more games at the PlayStation Meeting or Sony’s PlayStation Experience 2017 which will take place in California from 9 to 10 December. So we just have to hold our breath and passionately wait for new releases.
